Montmartre, oil painting on canvas by Emile Saudemont. It represents the church St Pierre in front of the Sacré Coeur. Measurements 61 cm x 50cm. Circa 1930. 19th century frame in gilt plaster.
Émile Saudemont was born on October 14th, 1898, in Denain, France. He studied art at the École des beaux-arts in Valenciennes, then at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts in 1941. His works were regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français de Paris from 1946 on. He painted well-known places in Paris and decorated the City Hall in Suresnes. He was one of the illustrators of the book by André Jurénil, “Denain et l’Ostrevant avant 1712”. Some of his work can be seen at the Archeology and Local History Museum in Denain. He died in 1962.
